Jassen Todorov is the Grand Prize Winner of the 2018 National Geographic Photo Contest. A licensed commercial pilot and certificated flight instructor, Todorov photographs the world from his own aircraft, combining aviation expertise with a precise approach to aerial photography. He captures both iconic cities and remote landscapes, focusing on composition, scale, and patterns to create technically rigorous and visually compelling images.
His work is internationally recognized and has appeared in National Geographic, The Guardian, CNN, The Times, and GEO, and been exhibited at major venues including San Francisco International Airport, Somerset House in London, and the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. Todorov has received top honors in competitions including Wildlife Photographer of the Year, National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year, Smithsonian Photo Contest, International Photography Awards (IPA, New York), and Sony World Photography Awards (London), demonstrating a consistent standard of excellence in aerial photography.
